As every narrative and strategic storytelling is a journey and development from one point to another, the basic combination of walking and moving our bodies while thinking and reflecting on core stories to tell about our corporate journeys in terms of strategies, personal leadership, team identities, ideas, dreams and projects, makes a lot of sense.
The impact from nature
Being in nature is a gift in order to work with our physical and mental power and balance, our energy and inner calm. Also nature is an abundance of inspiration when it comes to develope creative and expressive thinking and language and thereby our stories.
The ecosystemic and regenerative way of understanding our existence, as individuals, groups, organizations, societies etc, plays a central part in the philosophy and principles upon which any storywalk takes part from and is facilitated by.
The knowledge and the practice to support such a holistic and nature based world view comes from many sources – some of them acquired while undertaken long courses in ‘NBMC’ (Nature, Body, Mind, Community) and ‘Facilitator of internal sustainability’.
Among the major influences in working with and within nature are:
- Evolutionary psychology and environmental psychology including 'stress reduction theory' and theories about 'supportive environments'.
- Neuroscience on the connection between the three-part brain and the functioning of the nervous system.
- Embodiment including the mental effect of increased body awareness.
- Attention training (Attention Restoration Theory).
