As every narrative and strategic storytelling is a journey and development from one point to another, the basic combination of walking and moving our bodies while thinking and reflecting on core stories to tell about our corporate journeys in terms of strategies, personal leadership, team identities, ideas, dreams and projects, makes a lot of sense.

The impact from nature

Being in nature is a gift in order to work with our physical and mental power and balance, our energy and inner calm. Also nature is an abundance of inspiration when it comes to develope creative and expressive thinking and language and thereby our stories.

The ecosystemic and regenerative way of understanding our existence, as individuals, groups, organizations, societies etc, plays a central part in the philosophy and principles upon which any storywalk takes part from and is facilitated by.

The knowledge and the practice to support such a holistic and nature based world view comes from many sources – some of them acquired while undertaken long courses in ‘NBMC’ (Nature, Body, Mind, Community) and ‘Facilitator of internal sustainability’.

Among the major influences in working with and within nature are:

  • Evolutionary psychology and environmental psychology including 'stress reduction theory' and theories about 'supportive environments'.
  • Neuroscience on the connection between the three-part brain and the functioning of the nervous system.
  • Embodiment including the mental effect of increased body awareness.
  • Attention training (Attention Restoration Theory).

“As a team we wanted something extraordinary. A unique frame and content that allowed our employees to really unfold, be heard and prioritized. The long walk in the beautiful fall brought the best up in all of us and that day our big team got together and was strengthen around our common mindset. The warmth from the companionship we experienced that day as well from the big fire at the end is still with us here one year after”.

(Maria Friis, cheaf legal officer of the national Danish Board of Appeal)

Move your agenda outside

Whether it is leadership meeting, a strategy or status quo discussion, HR issues or any other agenda, it is worth considering the fruitful potential of leaving the office ‘landscape’ in favour of the much bigger and in many ways more inspiring space of nature. We look at the agenda together in order to design the right frame and content that really sparks the meeting, makes ideas fly high and work joy to flourish.

Strategic storyteller and nature coach

"I have been working as an independent communication consultant since 2006 and along that been teaching in strategic communication and storytelling af The Danish School of Media and Journalism.

In 2016 I started developing the concept Storywalks with the intention to facilitate strategic storytelling processes in the much more inspiring environment that nature offers compared with the so called ‘office landscapes’. As a nature coach I also support and facilitate the strengthening of fellowships and communities among the participants and their experience of connectedness”.
